Saurimo - ENDIAMA Mining, in partnership with the Brilhante Foundation, launched Friday, in Saurimo, Lunda-Sul province, a socio-environmental program called 'Small actions – Big transformations', aimed at environmental education.

The launch of the program was marked with a lecture on the importance of the means and recycling of garbage, with the participation of 60 children from some public schools from the municipality of Saurimo, who in the end, benefited from ecological kits.

At the opening of the lecture, the director of the Provincial Environment Office in Lunda-Sul, Cidália Pires, praised the initiative, stressing that activities of this kind contribute to raising the environmental awareness of children and beyond.

She took the opportunity to appeal to the population to denounce indiscriminate felling of trees, anarchic burning, among other actions that threaten biodiversity.

She encouraged students to participate in campaigns aimed at improving basic sanitation in the city.

For this Saturday, the program foresees a Theoretical-Experiential Workshop with a practical and didactic approach to environmental preservation, involving 50 children from 12 to 15 years old.

Later today, 50 adults, including 20 mining workers and 30 members of the community, will be trained with technicians for the production of ecological soap based on used cooking oil.

Similar activities will take place in the cities of Dundo, Lunda Norte province and Luanda throughout the month of November.

ENDIAMA MINING is a technical operational subsidiary of ENDIAMA-E.P, created on April 24, 2012. JW/HD/DOJ
