Uige - The Sanitation Steering Plan for the city of Uige, to be implemented from 2021 to 2035, was presented this Saturday to the local population.
The project seeks improvements to the city's sanitation, with the treatment of toilets, management of dirty water and sewage sludge, waste, sewage network, treatment and final disposal, to improve health, reduce mortality, control the spread of water-borne diseases and other actions for the good of the environment and increased of population life expectancy.
According to the CEO of Water and Sanitation Company in Uíge, Emília Dias Fernandes, the plan is part of the institutional development programme of the Ministry of Energy and Water and is
financed by the World Bank (WB) and the French Development Fund, which is expected to start in 2021.
It will cover parts of the capital and rural areas such as Benvindo, Quimacungo, Papel, Caquiuia, Dunga, Condo Benze, Candombe Velho, Pedreira, Quixicongo, Mbenba Ngango and Quituma Quiôngua.
According to the representative of the consulting company Coba, Tatiana Fonseca, the steering plan has three phases, the first, already completed, targeted the study, visit to the communities and assessment of the current situation in the city of Uige, to follow the implementation steps of the project.
On the occasion, the Vice-Governor for Technical and Infrastructures Sector, António Alex Matunda, called on citizens to take an active part in its implementation by promoting, more and more, the quality of people's lives and the social well-being of communities.
