Dundo - The governor of the province of Lunda-Norte, Filomena Miza Aires, stated on Monday, in Dundo, that the promotion of family farming is her main focus, with a view to food security and self-sufficiency in the district.
Speaking to the press, on the sidelines of the exhibition of agricultural equipment for purchase via credit, she highlighted that the government will encourage farmers to increase production levels, in order to improve families' diets.
It should also improve investment attraction mechanisms to promote agro-industry, broaden the tax base and promote employment.
“We know that family farming is the basis for food and nutritional security for families, which is why our focus will be on empowering farmers and attracting investors so that, in the near future, we can evolve towards industrial agriculture”, she highlighted.
According to Filomena Aires, “the province of Lunda-Norte should not only stand out in the diamond extractive industry, we need to look at other potentialities and transform them into wealth”.
The exhibition featured 18 motor cultivators and 7 tractors for individual farmers, micro and small agricultural companies, through a line of credit, the repayment of which will be made over a period of 3 to 4 years, with a 3% interest rate. HD/CF/DOJ
