Ndalatando - The provincial governor of Cuanza Norte, João Diogo Gaspar, on Tuesday called on young people to invest in agricultural production with the aim to promote self-employment.
The official who was speaking at the opening of a workshop on 'Promoting small businesses, with a focus on the new dynamics of the province', said that investing in agriculture generates stability and favours food security.
João Gaspar emphasised that the country needs to have a large agricultural production to guarantee more food for families, giving greater sustainability to the process of economic diversification, as well as being an opportunity for young people to undertake in this sector.
The governor said that young people, as the driving force of society, should embrace this challenge.
He emphasised the actions of the government in creating conditions and support for the promotion of agriculture, as part of the activities aimed at diversifying the economy.
On the other hand, he pointed out that the conquest of peace had led to the creation of conditions for the country's development and the construction of basic social facilities, as well as the promotion of teaching and learning at all levels.
For this reason, João Diogo Gaspar called on young people to preserve the basic social facilities built by the government and private companies, denouncing vandalism.
During the two days event, around 100 young people will learn techniques, methods and ways of starting a small business.
The event, organised as part of the celebrations for the 22nd anniversary of peace in Angola, which is marked on 4 April, aims to give young people the tools they need to set up small businesses.
State of the market, Business plan, Business models, Motivations, among others, are the topics selected for analysis and discussion at the workshop.
