Huambo - The FAO representative in Angola, Anastácio Roque, Friday in Huambo, reaffirmed the commitment of this United Nations organisation to continue supporting the Angolan government in defining agricultural development policies.
The official made this statement during the regional workshop on "Food systems and public consultations on the national food and nutritional security strategy (ENSAN II) - Angola 2030.
Anastácio Roque said that the United Nations Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) congratulates the Angolan government on the defined goals that reflect human rights, with the guarantee of national or local territorial food at all levels.
For this reason, FAO reinforces its continuous support in the creation of sustainable opportunities in Angola, taking into account the potential it presents in terms of agricultural development and employability of people.
Before an audience made up, amongst others, of the governor of Huambo province, Lotti Nolika, and the Secretary of State for Forestry Resources, André de Jesus Moda, the FAO representative said that food systems policies should address the need to reduce poverty, malnutrition and improve health.
This approach, according to the official, should be based on food-related diseases, conservation, biodiversity and ecosystem restoration, addressing climate crises and strengthening energy in urban and rural areas.
