Lubango – Two hundred and twenty-nine families from the San community, who live in the municipalities of Cacula and Quipungo, in the province of Huíla, have benefited from equipment to promote family farming, from the Christian Organisation for Community Development Support (OCADEC).

These are 90 families from the town of Nondjava, 77 from Cateta, in the municipality of Cacula, as well as 62 from Sassa, in the municipality of Quipungo, who received three-wheel motorbikes, ploughs, hoes, machetes and a grinder.

Speaking to ANGOP on the sidelines of the handover ceremony last weekend, OCADEC's rural development technician, Pedro Ntyamba, said that the delivery of the equipment was part of the "Support for Family and Nutritional Agriculture" continuity project, which started this year and runs until 2026.

He emphasised that the motorbikes will strengthen the process of marketing agricultural products in the three beneficiary towns.

As for the milling machine, he said that it would benefit 20 families in the village of Cateta, all headed by women, to ensure the processing of agricultural products, but with the help of some men to maintain the equipment.

The official informed that the process of handing over the means will continue, as during the course of this month, a locksmith's kit will also be delivered to the village of Novandja to make it easier for young people to boost their skills.

The villages of Hupa, Mupembati, Sassa, Nondjava and Mumue-Cateta will receive eight head of cattle, 40 goats, 30 sheep and 100 chickens to encourage livestock farming.

Training on agriculture, cattle breeding, land, small businesses, community development, health, water and gender and women's participation is planned for all the villages.

In general, the continuity project will benefit 510 heads of families directly, with actions aimed at strengthening sustainability in terms of agricultural production and securing the land of 402 families in the villages of Sassa, Mumue-Cateta, Nondjava, Hupa and Mupembati and other benefits. BP/MS/MRA/DOJ
