Caxito - The province of Bengo produced 1.3 million tons of different products in the 2023/2024 agricultural year, an increase of 179,868 tons compared to the previous season.
The tubers, roots, cereals and eggs sectors stood out, namely cassava, sweet potatoes, beans, corn and peanuts.
According to the agricultural sector report that ANGOP had access to, there was a sharp increase in egg production, reaching 338.3 million units, an increase of 116 million compared to the 2022/2023 campaign, in which 222.3 million units were produced.
With this figure, the province of Bengo becomes self-sufficient in egg production.
During the last agricultural season, 3,592 families worked on 153,925 hectares of land.
To increase production, the agricultural sector distributed 100 tons of different seeds and sold 300 tons of fertilizers (compost and ammonium sulfate).
