Andulo - One hundred thousand hectares of arable land are available in the municipality of Andulo, central Bié Province, for the 2024/2025 agricultural season, compared to 82 thousand in the previous period, the local director for farming, Paulo Chissonde, reported Friday.
In statements to ANGOP, in anticipation of the opening of the agricultural campaign throughout the province Saturday, in Camacupa, Paulo Chissonde said that, in Andulo, 40 thousand families will be involved, 21 thousand more than last season.
In his opinion, the increase is due to the interest that families have in working the land, as well as the timely arrival of fertilizers and other means of production.
Regarding fertilizers, the official said that the distribution of 170 tons of 12/24/12 compound fertilizer, 22 tons of urea, six tons of anonymity, as well as 15 tons of corn seeds, 10 tons of soybeans and nine tons of beans began last September.
In addition to these, he said that the municipality also produces other crops such as cassava, sweet potatoes, sesame, vegetables, various fruits, and that rice, wheat and coffee are also in the initial phase of planting.
